| Dear friends and citizens, "I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend." - Thomas Jefferson to William Hamilton, April 22, 1800 Legacy media and liberal politicians are trying to convince Americans that political violence comes primarily from the right with lists made by left wing propaganda outfits. The lists are factually incorrect, missing major events, and misconstrue accidents and gang violence as ‘right wing’. By focusing on and misinterpreting the most violent events, the legacy media and leftist politicians are trying to create a narrative that besmirches conservatives, Republicans, and moderates so they are reviled and silenced in public and political discussions. But the effects go far beyond the political process and touch our personal lives. How many times at work and in public, from friends, co-workers, or family, have you been attacked for your beliefs? How many times have people from the left side of the spectrum defriended you, disinvited you, or ended your personal relationship? How many times have you done it, because you felt dehumanized or even unsafe? Make no mistake - the process of informing the public, sharing ideas, having fruitful discussions, and shaking hands after a disagreement are the essence of civil society and a free and fair democratic republic. We can look to Thomas Jefferson and John Adams as exemplars of that ideal. We need to return to a culture where all sides who reason and discuss honestly can have a voice and are not shouted down or threatened with violence by radicals of any stripe. And it's the only way we can come together as a commonwealth or country to fix the real problems that face us, not the divide and conquer distractions of the political class. An informed electorate is vital to provide the grist for the rhetorical mill of political discussions to reach consensus. That is why The Virginia Council has been striving since its inception to provide stories and sources that are usually hard to find but provide a truer, saner view of reality. And why we continue to bring so many brave voices to The Virginia Forum including Dr. Carol Swain, Xi Van Fleet, and Andy Ngo, all of whom have been in the news with higher, national profiles recently. That's why I implore you to come out and hear from Julio Rosas, our speaker for the next Virginia Forum. Julio (who worked with Charlie Kirk at TP USA) is a brave journalist willing to cover the stories that the corporate media would prefer to hide. His most recent work showcasing the valiant efforts of ICE and law enforcement officers in the face of organized resistance will be the subject of his Virginia Forum event on September 30th. And maybe he'll share a few words about his work with Charlie. General admission tickets and VIP meet and greet tickets are available here. And if you'd like to get a discount for both our Forum shows: Julio Rosas and then Kyle Mann of The Babylon Bee on November 11th, purchase a bundle deal for both shows here.
