News from The Virginia Council 10/5/25

Dear friends and citizens,

The discovery of stomach-churning and hateful texts from the Democrat candidate running for Attorney General shocks the collective consciousness and puts the lie to calls for civility from the party of false decorum.  As an organization The Virginia Council strives to advance civil discourse and the rule of law through our communications and our gatherings. We expect that our candidates, elected officials, and law enforcement officers all strive for the same goals for all Virginians.

But we've seen this week that sadly, this is not the reality of politics in the Commonwealth in 2025. Doubling, even tripling down on messages of hate and violence against a highly respected Speaker of the House and his family should be beyond the pale of civilized discourse, even in private communications. Here's someone who represents a party that is so angered by history's transgressions, that they release their rage on historical monuments to avenge past wrongs. And now, apparently, on current political rivals by fantasizing about using violence to eliminate them.

The irony is that the monuments, if left standing, could have remained as a cautionary tale for future generations to work out differences with words of compromise and conciliation, rather than escalation and enmity. When the lust for power overrides concern for the electorate, when differences are used to demean and dehumanize, and threats of violence replace reaching out for understanding we are in a very dangerous place as a society. Let's continue to pray for grace, stay calm and peaceful, and work hard to impress upon our fellow Virginians the value of a democracy controlled by ballots, not bullets.

Julio Rosas gave a powerful and chilling speech at
The Virginia Forum last Tuesday night.
The Blaze journalist spoke on the topic “At the Scene: The ICE Raids & The Street Resistance" and provided a running commentary of the pictures he captured at various recent illegal demonstrations and riots aimed at ICE, Border Patrol, Federal agents and local law enforcement officers.
Julio described some of the dangerous situations he found himself in while risking his personal safety to bring stories to the public that legacy media refuses to report on.

Unfortunately, as he warned The Virginia Council members in attendance that night, the lawless and dangerous ‘resistance' anti-ICE attacks are likely to get worse before they get better.
