News from The Virginia Council

Dear Fellow Patriots,

Many of us had hoped that the arrogant but barbarian attitude of the race hustlers and intellectual elitists to disrupt, move and destroy art and monuments would dissipate after 2021, but regrettably the behavior continues today - just without as much attention.

This week we learned that Brandon Johnson, the controversial and failing socialist Mayor of Chicago wants to remove the bronze replica of Virginia's Houdon statue of George Washington from Chicago City Hall.

It boggles the mind - and sickens the stomach - that any elected official thinks it's politically wise or socially responsible to try to purge and erase the first president and father of America.

After an outcry - including howls of outrage from many more rational Democrats - there's apparently a temporary pause on the move but we expect it to still happen. Civic leaders and average citizens need to get loud and say this erasure is unacceptable. Join us in raising awareness and speak up for the symbols of our past because they are our guideposts to the future.

Closer to home in Richmond we now know that the city's beautiful statue of Christopher Columbus - much beloved by the region's Italian-American community - is being shipped out of state to try to protect it from the recurring illegal and xenophobic attacks by the city's radical culture warriors. Make no mistake...they did not disappear after the mayhem of 2020. They are still here, lurking.

We intend to speak out loudly and constantly against all of this Marxist behavior and try to turn the public against the perverse and unjust instinct to constantly judge famous historical figures by modern standards, tastes and mere trends. And let's be clear about this: these ongoing assaults on the Founders and other significant historical figures are not just attacks on these men - they are part of a concerted effort to undermine the legitimacy and question the morality of the fundamental principles this nation was built on - the rule of law, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the primacy of the rights of the individual over the dictates of the state. All of which, history tells us, is hated by the Left.
