Dear friends and fellow citizens, The Virginia Council, with your help, has accomplished so much since its formation in 2021! We’ve had monthly meetings with insightful speakers, thoughtful discussions with national figures at The Virginia Forum, fun patriotic parties, and a weekly newsletter full of stories important to all Virginians. And we thank you for your participation, attendance, and support! As a true grassroots civic organization (no NGO funds here!), we really do owe our thanks to all of you for the success of the last four years. But there is much more to be done to ensure that our government - municipal, county, and state adheres to and are governed by our Commonwealth’s constitution. Without your attention to these issues our basic liberties, freedoms, and rights are at risk. If current affairs and the standard of governance have got you wondering, “How have we gotten here?” please consider standing with us to help get the message out that despite our flaws and past transgressions this is a great state to raise a family, grow a business, and we appreciate the sacrifices made by those in our past to get us here today. The question becomes, “What are you willing to do to make it better?” We are looking for energetic patriots who can help with welcoming new members, forge civic relationships, help educate and inform our electorate, organize meetings and events, and of course, help raise funds that can broaden our reach. As an all-volunteer, unpaid group, reminiscent of De Tocqueville's praise for ‘associations’ in America, we can only be successful with your help. The best way to overcome discomfort or anxiety is to take action to resolve the source of that concern. Unlike the weather, politics and governance ARE responsive to our complaints and petitions to improve them. Whether it is schools, personal safety, fraudulent spending, defending illegals at the cost of citizens, or destruction of our past, complaining is not enough to correct our course. History’s lessons show that liberties lost are not easily recovered. Join us today and our mission of preserving the best of the past to create the brightest future for all of Virginia’s citizens. Speaking of stepping up, the Board of The Virginia Council has asked me to step in as Interim Chairman while our founding executive, John Reid, pursues the office of Lt. Governor. Our mission will not change, and our enthusiasm is undiminished. With your support and volunteer efforts we can do even more to educate the electorate on the crucial decisions we face as a society. Respond here if you’d like to become an active member!
