News from The Virginia Council 8/10/25

Dear friends and fellow citizens,

The ‘dog days’ of summer are upon us: heat, humidity, and the ‘silly season’ for news and reporting. Among the usual political shenanigans, however, there are important activities to be aware of that pertain to the mission of the Council and you, our supporters.

Namely the ongoing ‘re-imaginings’ of the statues, artifacts, and monuments of Richmond being sent to a museum in Los Angeles. The strident effort to set the narratives of the past solely in the light of CRT, DEI, and post-modern thinking is in retreat across the country, but still active in Virginia. You can help us to turn the tide by taking a moment to fill out a survey from The Valentine Museum (see below), by attending our meetings, volunteering, or crucially, by making a contribution here

As we turn our focus from summer relaxation to elections in the Commonwealth it is time for us to get together as concerned citizens. We have some upcoming events to mark on your calendar:
August 20th for an evening brewpub event with Americans For Prosperity, September 10th at Park Layne Tavern with Capital Research Center, and a special guided tour on October 3rd at The Virginia Museum of History & Culture. Plus, we'll be announcing soon our exciting speakers for The Virginia Forum series this fall.

We look forward to seeing you again soon at our events, in the meantime stay cool and get prepared for a busy fall season with The Virginia Council.

Sincerely,

It's not too late to make a difference!
There's some good news:
The Reconciliation Monument is being returned to Arlington.
The General Pike statue is being restored in Washington DC.

But the Richmond statues, monuments, and cannons
are being sent to Los Angeles, California!
Richmond's old Jefferson Davis statue is headed to Los Angeles
Black History Museum joins other institutions in loaning monuments to Los Angeles exhibit
Help us fight for an honest and legal process to determine
the fate of these historic pieces of art. Decisions made by the
mob are not a democratic process, but tyrannical.

An update from Arlington National Cemetery:
“At the request of Moses Ezekiel’s family and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Moses Ezekiel's sculpture will be returned to Arlington National Cemetery,” Youngkin said in a statement to Beltway Brief, “where he is buried and where his legacy as a renowned American artist and decorated veteran can be honored.”
