Dear Fellow Patriots,
It's a busy time right now so let me share two quick things.Number one: we hope you'll join us this Wednesday, October 16, at 12 noon for our monthly meeting at Park Lane Tavern in Henrico. The speaker is a man with a name that will sound familiar to people who have followed Virginia broadcasting: Brendan Soden, who is the son of the legendary sports broadcaster Frank Soden.
Brendan made a name for himself though his service as a US Secret Service agent from 1972 to 2001, safeguarding many notable individuals, including George H.W. Bush, Henry Kissinger, Walter Mondale and members of the Kennedy family. He will join us to talk about the history of the agency that protects the presidents and offer an analysis of what has happened in more recent times. It should be a timely and remarkable discussion, especially given the controversies that have roiled the agency this summer. RSVP for this free event here!
Second: the tickets are almost gone for our Virginia Forum presentation with movie star Kevin Sorbo. Kevin will speak at the Glen Allen Cultural Arts Center following a VIP reception on Wednesday October 23. His presentation will discuss the hostility that Christians and conservatives face in the film and entertainment industry and will expose the sickening sexual abuse that appears to be an all-too-common factor in who rises and who falls in this major global industry. You will definitely want to be a part of the discussion in person! Get your tickets here before Kevin's appearance is completely sold out.
Also please remember that one of The Virginia Council's prime goals is preserving and studying our history- especially in Virginia- because we have faced conflict and difficulties before. We learn how to navigate this turbulent era and emerge with success and prosperity - and hopefully peace - by examining the men and women who made difficult judgments in their own times.
This is why we are fighting to stop the Marxist destroyers and this is why we ask for your support.
Together - with your volunteer and financial support - we can spread the stories and lessons of hope and inspiration and success from our past and enlighten a new generation of responsible faithful and courageous leaders - in Virginia and beyond.
I look forward to seeing you in person in the coming two weeks!
John Reid
Founding Chairman
The Virginia Council
